The stay

Big Lagoon is an exclusive bush camp located on the west bank of the South Luangwa National Park, accessible only on foot. Overlooking an extensive lagoon from within an ebony forest, the camp offers unparalleled walking safaris along well-worn elephant and hippo trails. Guests are accommodated in refreshingly simple, grass-walled chalets with en suite flush toilets and safari showers open to the stars.

Big Lagoon offers a measured immersion in the South Luangwa National Park. Guests rise to the call of the surrounding ebony forest and set out on foot along established elephant and hippo trails, returning to simple grass-walled chalets where solar fans and open-air showers refresh them under the night sky.

In a tailor-made safari, the camp provides a quiet base from which to explore the park on foot, with the choice of a Twin Double Chalet or King Chalet offering a private retreat after each day’s activities.
