The stay

Chikoko Trails incorporates two small and exclusive bush camps, Chikoko Tree Camp and Big Lagoon. Located on the west bank in the South Luangwa National Park, a few kilometres upstream from parent camp Tafika, Chikoko is only accessible on foot and offers unparalleled walking safaris. The camp features 3 chalets raised above the ground, offering a commanding view of the surrounding Acacia grove and the array of wildlife that frequent it.

Guests at Chikoko Tree Camp rise to a quiet dawn among the acacia trees, where the three raised chalets provide a private vantage over the grove and its passing wildlife. Solar fans cool the interiors, solar showers refresh after walks, and a communal charging station keeps devices ready for the next outing.

A visit here slots naturally into a tailor-made safari in South Luangwa National Park, adding foot-based exploration to game drives centred on the parent camp upstream. The small scale and walking focus allow travellers to build a flexible itinerary that balances time on the ground with restful nights above the trees.
