The stay

NaiSabah is a 75ft Traditional Omani liveaboard dhow that has been carefully repurposed and designed for ocean exploration in the Lamu Archipelago. The dhow boasts three air-conditioned cabins, comfortably accommodating up to eight people, and offers the unique experience of sleeping under the stars on the open deck.

Guests sleep aboard a traditional Omani dhow that has been converted for private use along the Kenyan coast. Three air-conditioned cabins and a bunk room provide comfortable quarters for up to eight travellers, while the open deck offers a clear view of the night sky. A captain, crew and private chef look after daily needs, and the fresh-water maker ensures a steady supply for showers and the galley. A separate leisure boat stands ready for fishing, snorkelling or waterskiing whenever the mood strikes.

The dhow forms a natural base for a tailor-made safari that moves from inland reserves to the Lamu Archipelago. After days on land, travellers board for a few nights at sea, using the vessel as both transport and floating lodge while the chef prepares meals from the day’s catch. The arrangement keeps the itinerary flexible, allowing sudden changes in wind or wildlife sightings to shape the next leg without the need to rearrange hotels or transport.
