The stay

Located on the doorstep of the largest inactive volcanic caldera in the world, Ngorongoro Crater Camp offers 10 impeccable tented suites. The camp provides easy access to the great caldera, home to thousands of animals including the Big Five. The intimate, low-impact design features a main area angled to catch the sunset, offering extraordinary big-sky savannah views.

The camp places guests close to the caldera rim, so each morning begins with a short drive into a landscape where elephant herds, lion prides and rhino often appear within minutes of arrival. Spacious tented suites open onto private decks that frame the plain below, while the central lounge and dining area, angled for sunset, draws everyone together for meals served with local wines and spirits.

Placed at the edge of the caldera, the camp forms a natural first stop on a tailor-made safari through northern Tanzania. Days can alternate between early game drives inside the crater, guided walks on the surrounding highlands and visits to nearby Maasai settlements, with all meals and drinks provided so travellers can focus on the shifting wildlife and wide horizons without logistical concerns.
