The stay

Okahirongo Elephant Lodge is a design-forward retreat located in the remote Puros Conservancy of Namibia's Kaokoland. Situated on the banks of the Hoarusib Riverbed, the lodge features Himba-inspired architecture with a dramatic central dome and open-sided communal areas. Guests can stay in one of seven spacious suites or a two-bedroom suite, all offering private terraces with panoramic views of the desert landscape. The lodge provides a base for exploring the otherworldly terrain, including towering clay castles and ever-shifting dunes, while offering opportunities to spot desert-adapted wildlife and engage with local Himba communities.
