The stay

Perched on the edge of a river valley, the architecture of Sasaab blends Swahili and Moroccan design principals in which the African heat is of primary consideration. Each of the eleven canvas-sided rooms is over 100m² with private plunge pools and breath-taking views across the Laikipia Plateau toward the jagged peaks of Mount Kenya. Its position above the river naturally facilitates watching the herds of elephant that come to bathe below as well as a host of other wildlife.

The lodge offers a refined blend of architectural grace and natural immersion. Spacious canvas tents provide private plunge pools and open air bathrooms, while infinity pools and a spa area allow quiet moments of relaxation. Elevated above the river valley, the setting invites observation of elephants and other wildlife moving through the landscape below.

In a tailor made safari through Samburu National Reserve, the camp serves as a comfortable base for exploring the region. Its location supports game viewing and rest between activities, with each tent offering privacy and ease.
