The stay

Built to blend in with the vastness of its surroundings, Tarangire Sopa Lodge lies hidden among the kopjes, ancient baobab and grasses of the Tarangire National Park - home to the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa. Many can be seen around the lodge, allowing visitors a close encounter.

Tarangire Sopa Lodge offers a quiet retreat within the park. The lodge sits low among granite outcrops and baobabs, so guests can watch elephant herds pass close to the grounds from the lounge or from tables set outside. A swimming pool provides relief after game drives, while the bar and restaurant serve meals with views across the plain. WiFi is available in public areas, and a small shop stocks local crafts.

The lodge works well as a base for a tailor-made safari in Tarangire National Park. Standard rooms and interconnecting rooms suit families or pairs, and the central location shortens travel time to the park’s main roads and watercourses. Days can be arranged around morning and afternoon drives, with lunch and rest taken at the lodge between outings.
